The Club
Rossendale Triathlon Club
Rossendale Triathlon Club was created in 2010 following the success of the Rossendale Triathlon which began in 2005.
The Triathlon event was first organised by Rossendale Leisure Trust (RTC), their accountant, Vanessa Hamlet, Board member, Garrie Prosser and gym member, Simon Corless initiated the creation of the Club on the back of their passion for the sport of Triathlon. They were assisted by Sport England and their strategy to create a community sports system to ensure the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games delivered a lasting grassroots sporting legacy. So prior to the Olympics, Sport England provided Olympic sport governing bodies with funding and assistance to create this legacy and British Triathlon helped the Club by providing a qualified coach, funding for our own members to become qualified coaches and general advice to ensure the Club was sustainable.
Sport England focused on three pivotal areas: Growth, Sustainability and Excelling at sport and the Club is proud to say it has managed to achieve all of these throughout its existence and now boasts over 100 members and the Triathlon will be entering its 15th year in 2020.
